Embarking on a journey to flawless non-toxic beauty goes beyond the brush strokes and color palettes—it’s a commitment to self-care that extends to the very ingredients we embrace. In a world where the choices we make impact not only our aesthetics but also our overall well-being, the decision to choose clean, non-toxic makeup stands as a pivotal step towards a healthier, more radiant you. Although I had always had a very minimal makeup pallet, I’ve gravitated back to my old devotion to clean ingredients. Here are my top picks for your essential makeup bag.
100% Pure Cosmetics
If you haven’t heard of 100% Pure Cosmetics, where have you been? This non-toxic makeup line is dedicated to not only being cruelty-free but truly living by its name. I loved their products in 2016 when I started on my holistic journey. Their line extends from beauty to skincare to body care and hair care.
For the gal who is looking for the bare minimum, you can’t go wrong with their Fruit Pigmented Eyeshadow Pallet – technically, this could be your all-in-one! The pallet supplies three eyeshadow shades that can transition you from day to night, a highlighter and a blush. You could only have this and their Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara and easily be out the door. (I’ve tried many different mascaras, and this is my favorite, clean mascara rating 2 on EWG.) For the ladies who love a little cat-eye, 100% Pure Cosmetics Creamy Long Last Liner is a great option.
RMS Beauty
RMS Beauty was founded by makeup artist, Rose-Marie Swift, who has been in the industry for over 30 years. She saw how toxic the beauty industry was and knew that it was possible to create high-quality products with safe, non-toxic ingredients. Her RMS Beauty ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush has a deliciously creamy texture that blends so well to your skin, and a luminosity that helps you forgo the highlighter when you are in a pinch. If you are feeling playful, it could also be your eyeshadow, giving an ingenue appearance.
Alima Pure
I’ve been on the hunt for a good foundation for years. The truth is, I only wear it for special occasions, never on the daily. I’ve been told by makeup artists that my skin, thanks to my diligent skincare – but when I would attempt to work with the foundation, my face would end up having a weird flaky texture that would drive me nuts! For many years, I’ve heard of this brand and everyone praised the Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation. This year I took the leap in guessing my shade (which I got right, thank God) and purchased the powder foundation. It is perfect! Light to medium coverage, you wouldn’t think that I had any foundation on.
Side note: If you need it for a long day, like a wedding, make sure to start your makeup routine with a primer and end with a finishing mist.
Honest Beauty
I used to wear bold lipstick all the time. But my lips would feel dry by the end of the day and the ingredients weren’t the best. Now I opt for lip balms with tints. Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balm is EWG-certified and gives a nice, subtle hue. The wear is fairly long and I can attest that it does give a good hydration. The bonus is that you are not breaking the bank!
Transform Your Makeup Routine
Choosing non-toxic makeup isn’t merely a passing beauty trend; it signifies a dedicated effort to prioritize your health and overall well-being.
